A Club for Retired Women in Waterloo Region

What is PROBUS?
PROBUS is a local, national, and international association of retired and semi-retired people. It is a volunteer-based, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian fellowship organization.
The purpose of PROBUS is to provide Fellowship, Friendship, and Fun for men and women in their retirement and semi-retirement years.
Each local PROBUS club provides regular opportunities for members to meet others in similar circumstances, with similar levels of interest, make new friends, and maintain and expand their interests.
PROBUS Clubs can be made up of men, women or be mixed (men and women) clubs.
IT’S ALL ABOUT ENJOYING RETIREMENT!
How did PROBUS start?
PROBUS originated in the United Kingdom in 1966. In 1974, PROBUS expanded into New Zealand and by 1976 the idea had spread to Australia.
The first PROBUS club for seniors in North America was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Galt in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada in 1987. Currently in Canada there are 245 clubs with more than 36,500 members.
Today clubs exist in many parts of the world, including the United States, Belgium, India, South Africa and several other countries in Africa and Asia.
Our club, the Women’s PROBUS Club Kitchener Westmount, was the first women’s PROBUS club to form in Waterloo Region in October, 1994.
Our Monthly Meetings
“MAYCOURT PUPPETS AND PUPPETEERS”
Sandy Beingessner
Our club has monthly meetings from September to June. We meet on the morning of the second Tuesday of the month at the Community Pavilion at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
The Community Pavilion is a brand new building (not yet shown on Google Maps) on the west side of the Recreation Centre.
Our meeting room on the second floor is accessible via an elevator close to the building entrance.
These meetings are a chance to chat with old friends, make new ones, and hear special speakers share their passion about fascinating topics.
We also have several interest groups. While these were suspended for the last couple of years because of Covid, they are starting up again in the 2022-2023 season.
